John is a Canadian journalist and historian. Born in England, he immigrated to Canada with his family at a young age. He began by practicing law but left behind this profession in order to focus on his literary endeavours. He wrote for the Toronto Evening Telegram and the Toronto Weekly Globe. His later years were spent writing histories, essays, and stories. To date, he has been dead for 134 years.
